Skive and Stay

I learnt a new word. It is called ’skive’.

To skive is British slang for the practice of avoiding responsibilities because you want to do something more fun or just don’t want to do what you should be doing.

In the context of schooling, this is known as truancy.
In the military, this falls short of both absence without leave (also known as “going AWOL”) and desertion.

In the context of my everyday language, it is known as ponteng. But cooler to say skive, I suppose? Go ahead.. guess who is skiving tomorrow?

Oh, and there is this one really really weird video I caught at the gym last Sunday. It was just so scary (you can try youtubing it.. I think it is too nightmarish to be shown on my blog) yet I was so drawn to the song. I wonder if I heard the song before when I was young. It must be a 1992 song.. I was still in Sunny Hill Kindergarten that time.

There you go.. it is called ‘Stay’ by Shakespears Sister.
